278,000 adults in Oklahoma have been diagnosed with diabetes and another 110,000 go undiagnosed across the state. Combined, this represents 39% of our state’s population. Diabetes (or its complications) is the fourth leading cause of death in Oklahoma. The risk for diabetes is doubled for American Indians and other minorities. All proceeds of the Oklahoma Run to Defeat Diabetes fund outreach initiatives geared towards diabetes detection programs in our state’s most at-risk areas. The Harold Hamm Oklahoma Diabetes Center has identified diabetes detection as a pressing concern and has programs in place to attack the problem at its source within underserved communities.
In order for us to establish long-lasting solutions to the addressed problems, we need your help through a sponsorship donation. Attached is a sponsorship form outlining the levels of compensation and the associated benefits with each designation. A variety of options are available to accommodate wherever you feel comfortable donating. The deadline for all sponsorship commitments is Friday, August 19th. We hope you become part of the team fighting the effects of diabetes in Oklahoma!
The 1 Mile Family Fun Run will start at 8:30 AM and the 5K race will begin at 9:00 AM. Registration opens at 7:00 AM.
